To all Fountain Lake Residents,
As we all know we are under drought conditions, just take a look at the lake level. The drought has now reduced our well water capacity to a rate which causes us to initiate Stage 1 of our drought contingency plan. Under stage 1 of the plan the follow restrictions are now in effect:
Stage 1 Response – Mild Water Shortage Conditions
Goal – Achieve a voluntary 10% reduction in total water use
Supply Management Measures:
Fountain Lake Water supply Corporation will manage limited water supplies by discontinued flushing of water mains.
Voluntary Water Use Restrictions:
(a) Water customers are requested to voluntarily limit the irrigation of landscaped areas to Sundays and Thursday for customers with a unit number ending in an even number (0,2,4,6 or 8), and Saturdays and Wednesdays for water customers with a street address ending in an odd number (1,3,5, 7 or 9), and to irrigate landscapers only between the hours of midnight and 10:00 AM and 8L00 PM to midnight on designated watering days.
(b) Water customers are requested to practice water conservation and to minimize or discontinue water use for non-essential purposes.
In addition, to the above restrictions FLOWs has issued the additional restrictions of eliminating irrigation of all grass watering and car washing. Watering of garden plants can still take place as long as it is done with either a permanently installed (and operating) timed watering system or hand held garden hose under the times mentioned above in section (a).
The TCEQ and Lower Trinity River Authority have copies of our drought plans and expect us to put these measures in place.
All property owners are responsible to ensure anyone leasing or using their property on weekends will also comply with the above restrictions. The entire Drought Contingency Plan is posted on our FLRA website.
Hopefully, we will have relief soon. In the meantime, please do what you can to preserve our water resources.
Please let me know if you have any questions,
Dennis Hallaron
